Mad Robbie Maddison
Robbie Maddison grew up in Kiama on the south coast of NSW, home of the infamous Kiama Boneyard surf break (where your blokes-cornerger was recently slammed). He grew up surfing, skating and bmxing and was an apprentice electrician before his motorcycle career took off. Maddison’s Dad says he was building ramps for his bmx when he was four. He competed in his first motocross event in 1989 when he was 8 years old!
In his glorious 18 years on motorbikes Robbie’s copped the following injuries
- A broken neck
- Broken both collarbones twice
- Broken leg – twice
- Brain haemorrhage
- Punctured lung
- Ruptured scrotum
- Snapped ACL
- Fractured vertebrae
- Front teeth knocked out and replaced
- ‘At least a dozen’ broken noses
- Multiple ‘lesser fractures’ spinal injuries and concussions
“Serious injuries help me focus on how important this whole adventure around the world is to me…It fires me up so it’s a blessing in disguise” (!?)
His latest stunt was 2 years in the making – the full behind the scenes video on how they did this will be released on the 18th of August. For now check out
