Lots of Surprises this weekend

Upsets, close calls and surprise decisions. It sure was an interesting weekend in the wide world of sports.

Today lets start with Rugby Union. So much to talk about here. First lets talk about the big news that has just happened. The Wallabies squad has just been named and first once you went through the line up, you go ok no surprises there, but once you take a second look you realise that one of Australia’s best players, Quade Cooper, has been left out of the squad. Now, I’m not sure if this is the best decision by Robbie Deans, I suppose time will tell. Finally, Go the REBELS! I don’t think many people gave them a chance this weekend, but the Rebels upset the Stormers and came away with their first win against a South African Club.

Over to the round ball and over the weekend, we got to say goodbye to one of the best, David Beckham. Now love him or hate him, he won a lot over silverware and scored and set up some amazing goals.

In the AFL, the West Coast Eagles came away with a lucky win against North Melbourne. It sure was one hell of a close call for the Eagles and they were lucky they had the umpires on their side.

Now, in the NRL, I hate to say it but it’s great to finally see the Bunnies on top of the ladder. I think it’s been something like 52 years since they were last leading the competition. They sure do deserve it, they have been playing some great footy. If you’re in Melbourne tonight and you don’t have any plans, you should head down to AAMI Park to watch one hell of a game, when the Storm take on the crappy Sea Eagles. Go Storm!

Now let’s head over to the US. The NBA Conference finals are now here. In the West the San Antonio Spurs take on the Memphis Grizzles and earlier this morning the Spurs smashed the Grizzles in game 1. I think the Spurs will be a little to strong for Memphis this year. In the East were set for one hell of match up. The Miami Heat will face up against the Indiana Pacers. Expect some fireworks because these two sides really don’t like each other and the Pacers really do match up well against the all star line up of the Miami Heat.

Finally, how crazy are those dudes at the X Games? Really crazy, but great to watch.
