The AFL trade period has been MASSIVE this year and comes to a close on Friday. Looking back and reflecting, this has got to be one of the most memorable trade periods to date.

Nick Dal Santo, one of St Kilda’s favorite sons, has jumped ship to the ever improving North Melbourne Kangaroos. Wait, what? Unbelievable hey? How about Collingwood poster boy, “Daisy” Thomas joining the Magpies arch rival Carlton to join former coach Mick Malthouse? Geelong champion, Paul Chapman got let loose from the cattery after three premierships to join his former coach “Bomber” Thompson at Essendon. And possibly the most controversial and biggest “trade” in VFL/AFL history, Lance “Buddy” Franklin left the Hawks to join the Swans in the harbor city, Sydney for a huge 10 million dollars over 9 years! On top of that, he also landed former Australian Miss Universe winner, Jesinta Campbell! Is “Buddy” not the luckiest man in Australia right now?

In other AFL news, the Indigenous All Stars lost to Ireland in Limerick, 57-35. If anyone cares?

The ashes countdown is on! With less then a month to go before the start of the first Ashes test in Brisbane, Sir Ian Botham is predicting a 5-0 white wash in favour of England. I beg to differ though. Even though the Australian test team’s form has been bouncing around like a yo-yo as of late, the recent form of David Warner in the Ryobi Cup and Mitchell Johnson’s in the one day series in India, show’s that Australia is in with MORE then a chance of winning back the Ashes! I’m getting really excited about the Ashes, c’mon Aussie c’mon!

The Cox Plate is on this weekend which means the Spring Carnival is in full swing. Although we’re not hugely interested in the actual horse racing as such, we are hugely interested in the beautiful women in their stunning outfits who are out and about this time of year. So suit up gents, lets get to the races!
